| Regular Season | With only four seniors on this team, a lot of optimism surrounded this club at the outset of the season. Sophomore Dan O'Shurak took over as the starting goaltender and for the first time since 1992-93 when Jim Brunner was a sophomore, the Bulldogs had a goaltender that they could build their team around. Inconsistency was the biggest problem with this team, as it would go out one night and shutout a top team and the next night lose to a bottom-feeder. |
| Post-Season | Meadville won the North Division for the first time since the PIHL was formed in 1999. That earned the `Dogs a first round bye, and their opponent when they played their first game in the Penguin Cup playoffs was long time playoff foe Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Beginning in 1997, the Vikings and the Bulldogs had met every year except 2001. Of the five games, three have gone to overtime. On this night, PCC jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period at a packed Rec Complex, making the home crowd very quiet. A Justin Werle goal late in the second period cut the lead in half Matt Rusilko and Christian Nickerson scored to tie the game and force overtime. The sting of two previous overtime playoff losses to Meadville were erased as the Vikings scored six minutes into overtime to move on to the Penguin Cup semi finals. |
