| Regular Season | No Class AAA team had ever won three in a row, so that was now the goal as the `Dogs began defense of their title. Senior Ryan Smart announced in October that he would attend Cornell University, choosing the Big Red over several Division I programs that were recruiting the talented center. As well, this was Smart's draft year and several NHL scouts followed him throughout the season. Smart was taken in the 1994 Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils in the 6th round. The Bulldogs won their third consecutive Central Catholic Invitational in November and later that month lost in the championship game in Fenelon Falls, Ontario to a talented team from Peterborough. Meadville headed to Cleveland for the annual St. Ed's tournament and lost in overtime to St. Ed's in the championship game. A month later, the `Dogs played St. Ed's in Cleveland and handed them a 7-0 loss - the most lobsided loss in Coach Bob Whidden's tenure as coach. |
| Post-Season | Meadville only lost seven games all season and rolled through the playoffs again, winning decisively on their way to the State Championship. The `Dogs faced Germantown Academy at Rostraver Gardens. The game was tied at the end of the second period as Matt Coppola and Germantown's Sam Weiner were outstanding in goal. In the third however, Mike Teasdale, Scott Phillis and Jason Guerrieri scored to give Meadville a 3-0 win for their 3rd consecutive state title. Scott Phillis was named game MVP. |
