| Regular Season | The Bulldogs assembled a very talented and deep team after two consecutive western final defeats. Led by senior captain Dave Jones, Paul Phillis and goaltender Mike Abbondanza, the team enjoyed a tremendous regular season. The junior class was led by Tom Westfall; the sophomore class was led by Ryan Smart and freshman Scott Phillis scored 50 goals. |
| Post-Season | After winning their sixth consecutive Lakeshore title, the Bulldogs dominated the early rounds of the playoffs setting up a rematch with Armstrong Central at the Civic Arena for the right to go to the State Championship. Tied 5-5 after two periods, the `Dogs scored three times in the third to capture their second Class AAA Western title. Dave Jones led the way with three goals - two in the pivotal third period - to win his second MVP award in the Western Final. Jones won it as a freshman also. Jon Yackmack was again tremendous for Armstrong, but in the end, it was the depth of Meadville that prevailed. One week later, the `Dogs won the State Championship 9-3 over Monsignor Bonner at the Civic Arena before over 5,000 spectators. Tom Westfall was the game's MVP and Mike McCarney was outstanding chipping in with a hat trick. The line of Jones, Westfall and McCarney scored six of the nine goals. |
