| May 1986 | Bill Robertson, President of the Meadville Bulldog Hockey Boosters announces that Jamie Plunkett will take over as Head Coach of the Bulldogs for the 1986-87 season. Plunkett takes over for Denny Weston. |

| October 3, 1986 | Plunkett holds his first practice as head coach. The Bulldogs are coming off their most successful season having lost to Chartiers Valley in the Western Final.

| February 4, 1987 |
Meadville defeats Erie Cathedral Prep at JMC Arena for the first time in program history. Later that month, the Bulldogs win the Lakeshore Hockey League Championship for the first time in their program's history. |

| March 15, 1987 |
The Bulldogs open the Western playoffs with a home game versus Steel Valley and rout them as the team heads to the Civic Arena for the next two rounds. Meadville defeats Beaver and State College to win their first Western PA title and the Bulldogs leave for Philadelphia to take on Council Rock Indians at the Face-Off Circle Arena in Warminster. After falling behind 2-0 and 3-1, the Bulldogs rally to win the Class AA State Championship. |
